Magazine Advertisements
Magazine advertisements are used to advertise and promote the artists single/ album to the public. The features generally featured on a magazine advertisement include an image of the digipak , the release date of the album/single , display of the artist name and the name of the album/ single. In addition , the advertisement may include , review quotes from magazines and newspapers , record label logo and the artists official website. The magazine advertisement may reflect a similar style / design of the artists digipak , which allows carries the style used on the digipak to the advertisement.
Jessie J's magazine advertisement of her album ' Who you are' reflects a similar style to her album. The same colour scheme , font , and artist image is used for the magazine advertisement in-order to keep the same style. The same style used makes it memorable to the audience to remember the look of the album when seeing the advertisement in magazines , bill bordes , on buses etc...

The magazine advertisement uses a white background which enables the different fonts and colours to stand out. This allows the information to be clear and readable to the audience. The magazine advertisement also helps promote and advertise hit singles from the artist which includes ' Price Tag' . 'Do it like a dude' , ' Nobody's Perfect' and 'Who You are'.
Links to the artist official website and links to the record labels associated to the artist are features includes on the magazine advertisement. The use of this provides a link for audience to obtain information about the artist , the album , tour dates , song previews , reviews etc...
Strengths
- Good sized image of the artist used
- The black font contrasted against the white background makes the information stand out , bold , clear and readable to the audience
- The use of the Silver used for the Artist name and the different font used makes her name stand out in contrast to the rest of the information. The font and colour used makes her name eye catching to the audience due to the size of the font , memorable to the audience. The font used for her name is her signature style and links into her brand image.
- The layout of the advert is clear , simple , easy to understand and read.
- The colours used in the artist image is the colours used for the rest of the advertisement which makes it look bold , not over colourful or too much. Just simple.
Weaknesses
Could not find any faults with this magazine advertisement. I feel it is a good quality magazine advertisement includes all the information required. Easy to read and clear and attractive to audiences eye.
Like Jessie J , Lily Allen's magazine advertisement similarly follows the same pattern of reflecting a similar style from her album cover to her magazine advertisement.

Strengths
- The pale pink background on both the digipak and the magazine advertisement links in with the gender of the artist. The use of the pale pink contrast well against the bold , black font. The use of this allows the information to stand out , making it clear and readable to the audience.
- All the information needed about the album is included on the magazine advertisement.
- The artist name is bold and in a larger font in contrast to the rest of the font. This makes her name stand out.
- The use of the font is clear and easy to read for the audience.
- The layout of the advertisement is clear as the artist image is positioned to the right and fills the space , this allows the audience to see a full mid-shot of the artist. The information is positioned to the left of the advertisement so it diverts the audience attention to the left to read the information and to the right to look at the artist.
- There is links to the artist official website and to her Myspace page. This allows the audience to obtain further information regarding the artist , album , song previews , reviews etc...
Weaknesses
- The artist image used on the Digipak makes it hard for the audience to recognise and see the artist. In contrast to the artist used in the magazine advertisement which is strong as you see the full face of the artist.
- The quality of the Digipak looks stronger in contrast to the magazine advertisement. In my opinion the Digipak looks more creative and playful , whereas the magazine advertisement lacks that same creativity and playfulness. Also, there is a contrast in the background colour used for the magazine advertisement. The colour used for the digipak looks brighter in contrast to the magazine advertisement.
- On the magazine advertisement , labels of the record label are not featured which is a disadvantage for the audience to obtain further information about the artist /album.
Kate Nash makes the design used for her digipak her foundation for her magazine advertisement. She uses the same layout and image uses on the front panel of her digipak for her magazine advertisement.

Strengths
- The use of colours used for both products. The creativity and style of both products make it eye-catching and memorable to the audience. Also, reflects playfulness and the artist unique style.
- The used of the white font works well against the dark blue background. Makes the font stand out , making it clear and readable.
- Like the fact the magazine advertisement includes a review from a magazine , gives the audience an opinion on the album before they purchase it.
- The advertisement includes the release date of the album and a well known song associated with the artist.
- Short , sweet , simple
Weaknesses
- The image of the artist is very small in contrast to the image of the house. Makes it hard to see the artist face.
- The audience attention draws more to the house then the artist herself.
- Advertisement does not feature a link to the artist official website or include logos of the record labels associated with the artist.
