A short summary of the main points of Vernallis's theory

Carrol Vernallis is an associate professor of Film and Media studies at Arizona State University. Her areas of specialization are music videos and contemporary film soundtrack. Vernallis describes how verbal, musical and visual codes combine in music videos to make defining representations of race, class, gender, sexuality and performance.
