DAY 1 OF FILMING
02/11/11 was our first official day of filming. After using Monday's lesson as our day of practice to shoot various shots and play around with different angles of what we would like to incorporate in our official video , we were fully prepared of what we wanted to shoot and how we wanted to shoot it. On our first day of filming we filmed the introduction for our music video. The opening shots were off me as the artist ' Messie M' dancing around whilst listening to Jessie J's ' Domino' on an iPod .This was shot using various shot types such as over the shoulder shot, mid- shot, close ups etc . We shot the same shot 4x so we would have a good variety of shots to use when having to edit our music video.
Below illustrates some of the shot types we used
We wanted the music video to start off with the audience being able to hear a element of the original domino song. We shot a close up of the i-pod showing Jessie J's - Domino song playing but came up with the idea that we would use an editing program and would cross out ' Jessie J's name' and replace it with the artist Messie M 's name.Below illustrates our iPod idea
We used the room 333 within college to film our introduction as we wanted to contrast the vibrant colours of what the artist Messie M was wearing to the simple black background. As room 333 was sent up as a studio , we felt it would make the video look more professional.
Within the introduction of the video, we incorporated elements of dominoes to connect the images to the song title. We shot Messie M laying down on top of domino pieces and playing with the dominoes.
We also shot both Mary and Amy to be extra's within the music video with them singing parts of the chorus , so when editing we could take the attention away from the artist and focus on the extras.
By the end of the filming process we played back the footage and felt that we didn't have a secure idea of how to film the rest of our video. We had a talk with our media teacher about the concern we had and he reassured us that our ideas were good but we should simplify them a bit to make it more easier for us to film. We took his advise on-board and agreed that on our next filming day, we go ahead and film images made out of domino pieces.
Overall day 1 of filming was a success as we made a start of the introduction and first verse of the song. We may have to re - film some shots , but at least we've made a start on filming our music video.
