The Music Industry

The music industry is changing rapidly. Its changing by the way we buy music by the way we watch music videos even how music is distributed.

Back in the day you would have to go to the recording studio to create music ( some artists still do this) but now you can upload videos of yourself singing onto online social networking sites like facebook, twitter youtube etc (mainly youtube).

For people to know about your music back then it would be on billboards or on music channels like MTV. Now you can post it online and hope that it becomes viral.

For music to e bought you would have to go to the vinyl shop or a music store and buy the music physically (some people still do this; just less than before) now you can buy it from itunes or download it for free. Which sadly alot of people are doing today that is why the music industry is struggling.

Some companies have come up with many ideas to make people buy music instead of getting it for free. Like a special edition which could include extra tracks free poster etc.

Radiohead came up with a new idea called the honesty box. Which meant that people payed the amount that they thought the music deserved. But i dont think this is a good idea because people could pay 1p and say at least i payed for it. But thats just like getting the music for free so Radiohead arent making much of a profit from this 'honesty box'.
